Precipitation Estimates From Commercial Microwave Links: Practical Approaches to Wet-Antenna Correction

چکیده
An inadequate correction for wet-antenna attenuation (WAA) often causes a notable bias in quantitative precipitation estimates (QPEs) from commercial microwave links (CMLs) limiting the usability of these rainfall data hydrological applications. This article analyzes how WAA can be corrected without dedicated monitoring set 16 CMLs. Using collected over 53 events, performance six empirical models was studied, both when calibrated to observations permanent municipal rain gauge network and using model parameters literature. The transferability among CMLs various characteristics has also been addressed. results show that high-quality QPEs with below 5% root-mean-square error (RMSE) 1 mm/h median could retrieved, even subkilometer where is relatively large compared raindrop attenuation. Models which proportional intensity provide better than constant time-dependent models. It shown deriving explicitly are independent CML frequency path length and, thus, transferable other locations similar antenna properties.

FABRICATION OF CARBON FIBERS FROM COMMERCIAL WET SPIN POLYACRYLONITRILE FIBERS
Carbon fibers are fabricated from different materials such as special polyacrylonitrile (PAN) fibers, cellulose fibers and pitch. But PAN fibers are recognized as the most widely used precursor for the present-day manufacture of carbon fibers. The process of fabrication carbon fibers from special PAN fibers is composed of two steps including oxidative stabilization at low temperature and carbon...
متن کاملPractical Approaches to Participation
This policy research brief draws on presentations and discussions from the 'Practical Approaches to Participation' workshop, held in October 2003 at the Macaulay Institute, Aberdeen. The aim was to facilitate a critical dialogue on participatory approaches to environmental decision-making by bringing together practitioners, policy-makers, researchers and experienced participants.
متن کاملMeasurement of Wet Antenna Losses on 26 GHz Terrestrial Microwave Link in Malaysia
This letter discusses the effect of antenna losses due to rain on a 26GHz microwave link and the technique of extracting the losses from the measured rain attenuation. A 2-feet parabolic dish antenna with horizontal polarization has been used in the study. The measurement results have been compared with those obtained from other locations in Malaysia and some other Published Research works. The...
